As the need for handcrafted items and authentic artifacts has surged, the speed of bamboo cutting operations must improve. Traditional, manual harvesting methods are not only labor-intensive but can also harm surrounding bamboo growth. To address these challenges and reduce stress on workers, efforts have been made to design a bamboo cluster cutting machine that is user-friendly and efficient. The escalating demand for bamboo cutting machines necessitates urgent responses to these emerging challenges.

This document outlines the design and manufacture of a bamboo processing machine with three primary functions: splitting, grinding, and sanding bamboo surfaces. This innovative solution avoids the tedious manual processing of bamboo while allowing three operators to work simultaneously when needed. The design incorporates safety and ergonomic features, ensuring that the machine is not only robust but also aesthetically pleasing. By creating a multi-functional machine, we aim to save costs related to purchasing individual machines. Developers engaged in this project employed exploratory research methods and conducted focus group interviews to gather detailed insights. Utilizing several data collection techniques, such as direct observation and questionnaires, developers determined the prevalent issues in bamboo processing and recognized the urgent need for such a machine. Their findings confirmed a significant gap in available bamboo processing machines amidst a high demand for efficient solutions.

As a sustainable and eco-friendly material, bamboo plays a crucial role in mitigating the global decline of natural resources. Bamboo is densely populated in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam, where it provides an excellent alternative to traditional wood for various household goods. Bamboo's rapid growth allows it to be harvested within 3 to 5 years, significantly shorter than the 8 to 10 years required for most hardwoods. Its lightweight nature and social and environmental benefits enhance its desirability. Advances in bamboo manufacturing technology have facilitated the creation of high-value products like bamboo flooring and furniture, which can effectively substitute wood products. This paper presents a design for a bamboo grinding machine that meets environmental protection standards, responding to essential technical requirements.
