Marathon Motors & Generators
Marathon Motors & Generators has established a reputation for delivering high-quality motors and generators over its impressive history of more than 110 years. Its extensive product line is crucial for some of the most challenging industrial applications worldwide.
A Legacy of Industrial Excellence
Marathon Electric commenced operations in Wausau, Wisconsin, USA. The company initiated its journey in a repurposed logging mill on Plumer's Island, creating its first product—a single-phase 115VAC, 1/4 horsepower washing machine motor. As the company grew, inventor Austin Kimble took the reins as general manager, bringing innovative production techniques and product developments tied to his patents. Although results varied, Marathon broadened its offerings to include fans, talking movies, and metered washing machines. In the 1930s, it reorganized as Marathon Electric Manufacturing Corporation and proved profitable even during the Great Depression. Over the decades, Marathon expanded its production capacity with new plants and made a significant acquisition of Pennsylvania-based Burke Electronics. This strategic move allowed the company to diversify its portfolio to include generators, fuses, and terminal blocks. For more information, please visit dingbo.
