Generally no. Heat Pumps work by transferring heat from the surrounding air to the pool water. If a heat pump is installed indoors there must be a continuous supply of warm air from which the heat pump can extract heat. If you must heat the air in the room before the heat pump can extract that heat to heat the pool, there would be no benefit to the heat pump.

No. Any installation that causes the air being discharged from the top of the heat pump to be recirculated back into the heat pump will cause a loss of capacity and efficiency in the heat pump. Installation of a heat pump under a deck, or a low over hang will allow the air being discharged to be drawn back in by the heat pump.

Good afternoon Mike,I would recommend the AquaCal Ice Breaker/Heat Pump, part number SQ120R. I use to live in Coachella Valley, in the desert, and had that unit. With the extremely hot summers the ice breaker was amazing and in the somewhat cool winters the heat pump was great. I paired that with a cover to trap the heat so I wouldn't have to run the heat pump as much. As far as the liquid cover, the advantages of it is that you don't have to take off the cover every time you want to use the pool and it's a cover without you actually seeing the cover so it looks good. The disadvantages are that you have to add the solution weekly and I haven't found that it works as well as the actual cover. I hope this answers your questions, but if you have any further questions don't hesitate to me back.

That unit would work for your set up. I don't know if Mesa is in the desert, but if it is I'd recommend looking into a heat pump that has an ice breaker as well. I use to live in Coachella Valley in southern California where it's 120 degrees everyday in the summer. Before I got my ice breaker I'd get in the pool and it would feel like jumping into a hot bath. If wasn't refreshing at all. Just a suggestion.

Yes, that unit would work for what your set up is. I don't know if you're in the desert in Mesa, but I know when I lived in the desert in Coachella Valley it was nice to have an ice breaker as well for the super hot summers. When I didn't have the ice breaker during the summer it was like swimming in a hot bath. Just a suggestion.

The climate you live in I really would not recommend a heat pump less than the 125k btu model. Even then, I would recommend a heater over a heat pump for the climate you live in. Also, with your pool being about 16k-17k gallons I would go with at least the 300k either natural gas or propane heater.

Hi, Terrence. Several factors will need to be taken into consideration when sizing a heat pump. Factors like surface area, desired temperature, months in use and run time. This unit can be used but may not be the most efficient. You can use Hayward Heat Pump Analysis to determine which unit will work best.

Hi Scott, based on what you described I would go up to the HPT 110,000 BTU Hayward Heat Pump especially since it is only a few hundred dollars more and it will give you additional heat capacity to make sure you achieve the heating goals you stated.

Hi, Marc. Unfortunately, without know the pump model and the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool, we're unable to tell you what rpm to operate the pump at. You will have to so through a process of elimination. You can use a 95K BTU or higher to effectively heat your pool.

To connect the electronic board in order to control it remotely, use the P_S terminals on the right side of the board. Next, access the P_S menu and select the desired mode. In internal mode, POOL or SPA mode can be adjusted by using this menu. In external mode, a normally open contact puts the board in POOL mode and a closed contact puts the board in SPA mode. Therefore, a board set to OFF in POOL mode and to 80 degrees in SPA mode can be controlled with an external switch to heat up to 80 degrees.

Hi Jack, we recommend a heater that will give you at least a 1 degree rise in temperature per hour so your pump and heater are not running constantly (and driving up your utility bills). Our guide on How to Select an Inground Pool Heater says that an easy estimation of what you need is the square footage of the surface area of your pool. The heater on this webpage would give you about .9 degree rise per hour if your pool has 300 square feet of surface area, which might be a little too small. We recommend adding a solar blanket to it when you are not using it (especially at night) to keep the heat loss to a minimum. Let us know the size of your pool and we would be happy to recommend something that will keep you swimming well into the Florida winters.

Again I am just throwing out ideas here. So although the salt generator is showing it is getting enough water flow it might not be enough for the pool heater. I would check to see if the multiport valve is opened all the way while in the position that sends it to your heater (or when you are having the issue). It might be that it is not completely turning to allow the full flow to come out. The other thought is maybe there is a clog somehow in the valve. Of course it could be an issue with your heater, but if you are able to get proper flow through your heater when the valve is in a different position it points to it not being a problem with your heater, but rather an dissue with your plumbing. It's either the way it is set up or a problem with one of the valves.
